Research
My research develops classical and Bayesian methods for lifetime data, with a focus on situations where complete data are not available because of censoring. Most of this work is done with my PhD students and collaborators; the full list is on the Publications page.
Censored data and censoring schemes
Life tests are often stopped before every unit has failed, to save time and cost, and in medical studies patients may leave before the event of interest is observed. I study estimation and prediction under many censoring schemes: progressive Type-II, progressive first-failure, hybrid and unified hybrid, adaptive progressive and adaptive progressive hybrid, joint and balanced joint progressive censoring for two populations, block progressive censoring, and random censoring (including block random and progressive random censoring).

Stress-strength reliability
Inference for \(R = P(Y < X)\), the probability that a component’s strength \(X\) exceeds the stress \(Y\) applied to it, and for multicomponent stress-strength systems, in which a system works when at least \(s\) of its \(k\) components withstand the common stress.

Bayesian inference
Bayesian estimation of parameters, reliability characteristics and entropy under different loss functions, using Markov chain Monte Carlo methods and approximation methods such as those of Lindley and Tierney–Kadane, with highest posterior density (HPD) credible intervals. Bayesian results are compared with maximum likelihood estimates and confidence intervals through simulation studies and real data.
